Looking for a third win in just eight days, Joe Dunne will take Colchester United to Victoria Park on Tuesday night for the rearranged fixture against Hartlepool United.
Unbeaten in the month of February, the Pools have enjoyed a mini revival of their fortunes of late, with a particularly impressive home showing - having conceded just two goals in that period which has catapulted them into the top six of the division's form table.
The U’s defence heads to the north east on the back of two clean sheets and brimming with confidence, as United will look to complete the double over their opponents after running out 3-1 winners in September at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Jabo Ibehre scored twice in that encounter and did so against Stevenage on Saturday, closing the gap on Freddie Sears the current top scorer in the race for the club's golden boot.
Sears, left the match at Broadhall Way seemingly with an injury, but it was hopefully just a precautionary measure, as Joe Dunne explained to the media later: "Freddie should be OK, but we just wanted him off to be careful.
"The effort that he had put in today running at their back four was immense, but we just brought him off to be safe."
The Head to Head record over fifteen games shows that the honours are very even between the teams, with U’s just edging it having won six. A low goals per game ratio of 1.3 goals per game for Col U and 1.2 goals per game for The Pools means that this tie will shape up to be a tight affair.
As a game we hold in hand over the teams around us, this encounter could prove to be pivotal in the race to survive and three points would not only put the U’s in 16th place in the table, but add a valuable buffer between us and the bottom four.
Match Prediction: 1-0 Colchester… "Up the U’s"
