On the 9th April we welcomed our most recent Community Champion to the (re-scheduled) Col U v Stockport match - 8 year old Kevin Nita, who has been raising money for charity over the last few months.
Kevin is a keen runner and footballer and raised over £600 for Children in Need by completing a half-marathon through Colchester, back in December. Kevin completed his 13 mile run in and amazing 2 hours and 48 seconds.
Kevin wasn’t sure which charity he wanted to raise money for initially, with various options considered, so after doing some research, he decided to fundraise for Children in Need, as they spread the money equally to different causes.
“There are some kids out there who don't have all the good stuff we have. They might not have toys or books or even warm clothes. And that's just not fair, is it? I want to help them out, and that's why I am raising money for BBC Children in Need.”
Kevin was nominated for his kind-hearted gesture and chosen by staff at Colchester United Community Foundation and will be receiving a stadium tour, meeting some of the first team players and having a pitch side presentation – with a couple of other surprises thrown in along the way!
