The U’s will play their first game in two weeks this weekend after last weekend’s postponement against Salford City.
Colchester United were set to face the Ammies before a frozen pitch put paid to any football for the squad seven days ago.
But after a week of further training with the new management team, Owen Goodman says the side will be raring to go against Morecambe this weekend.
“We were able to get two really good training days out of it [last weekend’s postponement]. We’re now well-rested and recovered to go into this game.
“Ever since they’ve [Danny & Nicky Cowley] come in, they have a certain way they want to play. It gave them more time to implement things in us without overloading us with too much information.
“It’s good to get those principles down and keep working on everything.”
And speaking about getting plenty of first-team game time this season, Owen says it has served him well: “I feel like I’m getting better as the days and weeks go on. I’ve played twenty-seven games, there’s eighteen to go. If I play all of them, I’ll be on forty-five this season, and it’s been a big learning curve for me.”
