Barnet Defeat Young U's

6 December 2016

Bees hit five in first Central League Cup game.

A goal filled first half left a young Colchester United side with a mountain to climb in their first Central League Cup game on Tuesday afternoon.

Hosts Barnet hit five goals without reply in the first forty-five minutes at The Hive and that was enough to guide them to three points.

Two early goals set the tone for the afternoon, as first Fumnaya Shomotun and then Justin Amaluzor put the Bees in control.

Two became three as Amaluzor slid home a penalty past Rhys Williams and then the two goalscorers went close to adding a fourth, before defender Tyler Brown was on hand to convert a loose ball in the box to take the game beyond the shell shocked U's.

Amaluzor was the man on the mark just before half time, as he converted another penalty to complete his hat-trick and conclude a first half where the Bees had been in the ascendancy.

The second half would have been in part about ensuring no further damage was incurred, whilst seeing if they could get a goal or two of their own.

Chances were at a relative premium after the break and the U's held firm to ensure no further joy for the Bees as they ran out 5-0 winners by the full time whistle.
