Injury update from Tony Flynn.

He told the official website: "Lewis Kinsella has been the latest player to suffer injury, he got caught in a tackle in the Newport game and damaged his ankle.

U's Physio Tony Flynn is busy looking after a number of injured players but found time on Wednesday afternoon to give us an update.
"He underwent surgery to repair the ligaments and will be in a cast for another week before progressing to an airboot for another six weeks.

"He will be able to take the boot off and do some minimal work in that six weeks but it will still be the New Year before he will be match fit.
Tony continued: "All four are involved in football training of some description but not necessarily with the groups.

A quartet of others are much closer to a return though, with Doug Loft, Tom Lapslie, Brennan Dickenson and Matt Briggs all being out on the training pitches at Florence Park.

"He will be out of action until next season but the early milestones have been reached and progress has been as expected."

"Also in the early stages of post-op recovery is young forward Courtney Senior, who had an ACL, (Anterior Cruciate Ligament), reconstruction recently.

"He hasn't suffered any reaction and got a goal in his time on the pitch at Watford on Monday."

Already back in action is youngster Louis Dunne, with Tony saying: "Louis has been training for a while now after his ankle injury and got through his first match action this week.

"He is now injury-free though and is working on a fitness programme, towards a return to match action in a few weeks."

"Owen first got caught on the ankle in pre-season at Southend and has been frustrated with a couple of other injuries since then," he added.

He has played for the U23s at different times but further injuries have set him back, as the U's long serving Physio explains.

Another player looking to return from injury is Owen Garvan, who has yet to feature for the U's first team this season.

"Matt and Doug have been out a fair while so have some catching up to do on the fitness front, but game time isn't far away for Tom and Brennan."
