Wright Heads To Norwich

8 November 2016

U18s manager takes role at Canaries.

Colchester United U18s lead coach David Wright has left the club to take on the same role at Championship side Norwich City.

David, who has represented the U's as a player, assistant manager and caretaker boss before taking the U18s role, started with the Canaries on Tuesday.

It means that he has now played for and coached at Colchester, Norwich and Ipswich.

Director of Football Tony Humes said: "We would like to thank David for all that he has done at the football club.

"He has helped us set things up within the academy and we wish him well with the next step in his career.

"Liam Bailey will take the U18s in the meantime, supported by the likes of Jon De Souza and Richard Hall.

"We are fortunate to have some excellent coaches within the academy at the moment, and this will allow us to take our time to make sure we get the right person in to replace David in the coming weeks.

"We have already had a number of applications for the role, so we will make a decision in due course."

Academy Manager Jon De Souza added: "I would like to add my thanks and wish David well for the future.

"In my time at the club so far, he has been a valuable asset to the Academy and I am thankful for his help.

"Liam is well equipped to cover this period and we will make an announcement once we have David's replacement."
