U's Bring In Moody

20 July 2016

Iain to help player recruitment.

The U's have brought in Iain Moody to assist with player recruitment.

Following relegation, Chariman Robbie Cowling felt that this was an area that needed immediate improvement and has moved quickly to bring Moody on board.

The former Crystal Palace Sporting Director, who has also worked at Cardiff City and Watford, has already began work at Florence Park and Robbie explained why his introduction was needed.

"Recruitment is certainly an area where we should have done better in the past and I take full responsibility for that not being the case. We have proved that we can develop talent but that is only half the story. We need to recruit the other half and we have to do it better," he said.

"It won’t be a quick fix but we have brought Iain in and will give him time so that he can revamp the whole recruitment process. I'm sure we'll see big benefits of his work over the next season or two.

"It’s been too soon for Iain to have had a major impact this summer but he has certainly had some impact already helping straight away with the low hanging fruit."

"The aim is still to invest good money in our youth and to develop our own players. But I would also like to get to the position where we can invest as much in recruiting players externally, knowing that in the long term we'll get our investment back."
