Fosu Extends U's Loan

12 January 2017

But Kamara returns to Arsenal

Tarique Fosu has signed a loan extension at the U’s.

The 21 year old winger will now stay in north Essex until the end of the season, after his initial loan period expired on January 7th.

He joined up with the U’s squad at the end of the August transfer window and has made fifteen appearances for John McGreal’s side.

As well as a number of assists from the wide areas for the U’s, Tarique has contributed three goals, in the league against Barnet and Stevenage and in the FA Cup against Chesterfield.

Having the young Reading star as a loanee will hopefully help the U’s secure a top seven place come May, a feat he achieved last season at Accrington Stanley.

He joined Accrington on loan last March and they went on to finish in the Play-Offs two months later.

The Gunners midfielder arrived at the U's a few days after Fosu, following a trip with the Finland U21s, but failed to break into the team here.

Whilst Tarique continues his time at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, fellow loanee Glen Kamara has returned to Arsenal.

All the paperwork was signed on Thursday morning and he should be in contention for a place in Saturday’s game at Newport, subject to clearance from the relevant authorities.
