Lapslie injury worse than first thought.

U's midfielder Tom Lapslie will be out longer than first thought.

The combative midfielder suffered an ankle injury against Blackpool earlier this month, and is now expected to be out of action for a good few weeks.

Physio Tony Flynn explained: "Initially, we thought it was probably a standard sprained ankle but the scan revealed a more complex issue.

"The Ankle Syndesmosis is the joint where the Tibia and Fibula are joined together at the top of the ankle and the two bones at this point are bound tightly together with fibrous ligament tissue.

"It is this tissue that has suffered some damage and Tom will be in a protective boot for ten days before he can start any rehab programme.

"The early indications suggest it could well be up to about six weeks before Tom is fit again, which is significantly longer than we all would have hoped."
