Colchester United midfielder Sammie Szmodics is back in contention for this weekend's trip to Mansfield, after resuming training with the rest of the first team squad.
Sammie has been out of action with an ankle injury since the FA Cup game against Chesterfield at the start of November, but could now join the U's travelling party to Field Mill for the latest League Two game.
The match looks like it will come too soon for Chris Porter, who has been absent with a hamstring injury, but otherwise the U's are in good shape as they aim to make it three league wins on the spin on Saturday.
