The U's have earned a point at Crewe as the season enters its final two games.
The first half was goalless but it was the U's who probably edged it, forcing Crewe into mistakes with high pressing, thus preventing the hosts from passing their way out of trouble.
After the break, both sides sought a goal but couldn't quite find that finishing touch and the draw moved both sides to forty seven points, just one above the bottom four.
Freddie Sears did hit the post in that second half but the U's had to settle for one point in their quest for survival.

It took the U’s nineteen minutes to open up the home defence, Jabo Ibehre firing wide from a tight angle after being found by Sanchez Watt.
Walker made his first save four minutes later, diving to his right to field Inman’s shot from the edge of the box.
Ikpeazu toe poked a shot wide halfway through the half, before the U’s started to take control of things.
Brian Wilson’s free kick flew safely over and Ibehre’s glancing header went wide before Massey had a couple of chances to open the scoring.
First, he shot over as a corner wasn’t cleared further than the edge of the box and then he had a low shot saved at the near post by young Crewe keeper, Ben Garrett.
Marcus Bean then got in the act, firing his long range shot wide as the U’s continued to press high up the pitch when Crewe’s defenders were in possession and trying to play out of defence.
The half finished with the U’s having two more chances, with Ibehre’s effort flying wide and Sears’ being saved after the former West Ham youngster was put in by the good work of Massey and Ibehre.
The second half started with Crewe having the first effort, Moore hitting his shot straight at Walker.
Massey, who was having an influence on everything the U’s were doing, created the first chance of the half for the visitors, Gilbey’s shot hitting teammate Ibehre.
Halfwau through the half, the U’s went mightily close to taking the lead, when in form Sears hit the post with a first time effort from the edge.
Gilbey had won back possession, fed Ibehre, who provided an instant pass to Sears to shoot against the woodwork.
Ibehre was then denied by the keeper, before the hosts finally got a foothold in the second half.
Ikpeazu was the danger, first crossing into the box without reward and then heading wide from a Moore cross.
There was a nervous edge to the final few minutes, with neither side wanting to lose the point they would each get, but there was still a chance at each end.
Moore’s shot was saved by Walker, while at the other end, Eastman headed over from a Sears’ corner.
