Keeper Carl Pentney leaves U's.

U's keeper Carl Pentney has left the U's, having his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

Since signing in August 2010, the Colchester born stopper has struggled to force his way into the first team under the two managers he has served.

He has been out on loan at various clubs, including Bath City, Hayes and Yeading and Chelmsford City.

And U's boss Joe Dunne feels it would best for Carl to seek first team football elsewhere.

He told the official website: "Carl has been very patient in his time with us but it is time he was playing first team football.

"As with a few others, I cannot offer him that here so we feel that releasing him from his contract is the fairest thing to do
and we wish him well for the future."
