CHAPS to appear on shirt on Tuesday night.
Mens' health charity CHAPS will be on the front of the U's shirt for the match against Notts County on Tuesday night, having benefited from a great competition held by the club.As the U's celebrate their 75th anniversary this season, we have seen a host of local companies take up the one-off shirt sponsorship opportunity at home games.
For the Notts County game, companies were able to pay £500 to not only guarantee themselves a fantastic hospitality package for the match against the Magpies and advertising at the game, but also the chance to be on the front of the shirt for the latest League One clash.
And, in a draw made by U's General Manager Tim Waddington, CHAPS charity were pulled out of the hat.
U's Sales Team Leader Michelle Tricker said: "We are delighted that CHAPS will have this opportunity on Tuesday night.
"We have worked harder than ever this season to help charities and other good causes in our local community and the shirt sponsorship package has been a successful part of that.
"All of the companies who entered the draw would have been great winners, but for us to back mens' health in this manner with CHAPS is a brilliant opportunity for everyone."
CHAPS is the Essex men’s health charity dedicated to raising awareness of men’s health problems, increasing access and improving NHS services for men.
"For instance, there is no screening programme for prostate cancer, which kills 10,000 men every year but is curable when caught early.
Charity director Professor Chris Booth said: "We need CHAPS to campaign for these because too many men die prematurely from illness that are preventable and curable if only men knew what to look out for and if better health services were provided.

"We need these services locally because premature deaths are directly linked to lifestyle and social deprivation. Even in well-heeled N.E Essex there is a 10 year difference in life expectancy for a man in Jaywick compared with Frinton – 73 to 83!
"CHAPS is changing that by producing information specifically for men because we know that if better information is provided and better access to services is offered, men take up the opportunity. CHAPS is providing that opportunity.
"If men are unaware of lifestyle risks and basic healthcare knowledge, they have no chance to make the changes that ultimately promote self-preservation.

"With our partners Colchester United Football Club and the Anglian Community Enterprise health services and specialist nurses, we have already run a Men’s Health Event that provided successful screening for a heart disease, prostate cancer and lethal aortic aneurysms at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in March.
"We aim to establish a N.E Essex Men’s Health Forum to link with all local men’s health organisations to secure a mandate to set up these health services specifically for men without delay."

This will be followed in the evening by another fund raising dinner hosted by top comic Ian Irving and local sporting legends.
