More U's Exits

18 May 2015

Humes continues clear-out.

It was reported last week that Magnus Okuonghae had left the U’s but he isn’t the only player to be on the lookout for a new club this summer.

Also set to leave the U’s is wide man Sanchez Watt. After a successful loan spell, Sanchez joined the U’s on a permanent basis at the start of the 2013/14 season alongside fellow former Arsenal player Craig Eastmond.

Sanchez went on to make 54 appearances for the U’s including that loan spell, but will be looking for a new club after it was decided not to offer him a new contract.

Boss Tony Humes said of Watt’s departure: "It’s a massive shame that things didn’t work out differently with Sanchez because he is a player with huge potential.

"Unfortunately, we didn’t see his true ability enough and with his contract coming to an end, we had to make the decision to let him go and try and fulfill that potential somewhere else."

Jabo Ibehre and Kevin Lokko are also leaving the club, with Humes not renewing either players’ contract at the U’s.

Humes added: "Jabo’s contract is coming to an end and it has been clear for quite a while that he would be seeking a future elsewhere once the season had finished.

"Kevin has been unlucky with the timing of his injury, it has certainly hampered his progress with us.

"The progress of other players has also seen him drop down the pecking order and we felt it was fairer on him to let him go now and find a club where he would have more of a chance of getting first team football."
