Manager's acclaim for support.

Colchester United boss Tony Humes has acclaimed the support of his team from the club's supporters - and said he believes that backing will be as important as ever in the coming weeks as the U's look to complete their quest for safety in League One.

Speaking at Thursday night's Season Ticket Holders' Fans Forum, Tony praises the backing his side has received during his time in charge and how the fans saw the U's home to a crucial victory last week against Bristol City.
"I'm very fortunate to have got the top job here and I am enjoying the experience and helping to take this club forward."

"I think I would have been daft to turn the job down, as I might not get that same opportunity again in my life.

Asked whether he is glad he took the job, he replied: "I've been in football since I was an apprentice at 16. I've worked my way through as a professional player, done my badges, worked in youth development and then had the Academy manager job.

Sunday will mark six months in charge for the former Academy manager in charge of the first team, and he told Season Ticket holders that he is enjoying his time as boss so far.

"I am very grateful for that support, the fans have been brilliant, so I hope we can get more results in the same way between now and the end of the season."

"I think everyone enjoyed seeing the game out and picking up the win and that's how it's going to need to be in the next few weeks - we've got to do it as one.

"The fans stuck with us at in what was a bit of a harrowing last thirty minutes against Bristol last week and everyone was together during that time.

He said: "We are all in it together at the moment, working as a team on and off the pitch.
