We take a look at winger Callum Harriott's debut performance.

First Half

George Haberman takes a look at Callum's debut performance.

Owen Garvan was introduced as a half time substitute, but Callum Harriott played the whole ninety minutes as the home team battled back to pick up a 2-2 draw, their third share of the spoils at home this season.

Colchester United's home game against Scunthorpe on Saturday saw two more players make their U's debuts.
1 min: Lively play down left hand side, classy back heel to Matt Briggs, good link up play with George Moncur.

3 mins: Foul on Neil Bishop in Scunthorpe half, push from behind.

7 mins: Colchester 0-1 Scunthorpe.

9 mins: Edwards shot deflected off Callum, comfortable save by Joe Anyon.

10 mins: Jordan Clarke chased down hard by the U's winger, good urgency.

14 mins: Callum is fouled by Kevin Van Veen after some fast footwork to get between two players.

16 mins: The Charlton man does well to half control a long pass from George Moncur. Loses the ball but his fast closing down forces a mistake and Charlie Goode concedes a throw in deep in the Scunthorpe half.

17 mins: Colchester 0-2 Scunthorpe.

18 mins: Callum Harriott and Gavin Massey swap sides, now working with Kane Vincent Young down the right hand side.

32 mins: George Moncur scores after Gavin Massey gets in behind the defence and is fouled. However, the loose ball drops to Moncur who slots into the near empty net. Colchester 1–2 Scunthorpe.

33 mins: Good fast footwork and one touch passing between Callum and George Moncur in the middle of the pitch.

35 mins: Callum takes a free kick from 30 yards, which goes a yard over the bar.

40 mins: More tricky footwork from Callum wins Colchester United a corner.

43 mins: Macauley Bonne releases Callum into a forward position, and his left footed curling shot from the edge of the box is saved by Joe Anyon.

First Half Analysis
Callum looked very lively and eager to please the home fans. He charged down the Scunthorpe whenever possible, forcing errors in the defence. His flair and skill is obvious for all to see with a series of mazy runs and stepovers.

Second Half

46 mins: Callum plays a classy through ball to George Moncur, which earns a corner.

46 mins: Callum takes the corner himself that is deflected behind for another corner. The second corner is whipped beautifully into the 6 yards box and Tom Eastman narrowly misses the header.

50 mins: The new boy again shows his skill as he beats two men but overruns the final touch and the ball just goes out of play.

57 mins: Callum is giving Scott Laird all sorts of trouble down this right hand side turning him inside out. Easily drifts past him and his shot is blocked by Murray Wallace.

70 mins: The winger nutmegs Scott Laird with a classy flick to play Kane Vincent-Young in down the right wing.

77 mins: Callum fouls Jordan Clarke. Good aggression shown and determination to win the ball.

80 mins: Good hold up play by Drey Wright who then feeds Callum. However his cross is over hit and ends up going behind for a goal kick.

81 mins: Callum wins a corner which he takes himself. George Elokobi meets the header with power and scores at the back post. Colchester 2-2 Scunthorpe.

85 mins: The Charlton man plays a cute through ball over the top to Sammie Szmodics, however he cant control it well enough to keep it in.

88 mins: Callum rockets a shot towards the far corner, however it gets blocked by Murray Wallace.

90 mins: Announced as Man of the Match.

Second Half Analysis
Much the same as the first half, Callum shows the home fans he is going to be a lot for opposition defenders to deal with. He has bags full of tricks and has been a pleasure to watch on his debut for the club. Looks very good at dead ball set pieces, constantly whipping the ball into the danger area with his left foot. Provided the assist for the equalising goal.

Full Time Analysis

Throughout the 90 minutes, Callum constantly threatened the Scunthorpe defence. He beat his man with ease on most occasions, making each Colchester United attack he was involved in a dangerous one. Unlucky not to get on the score sheet himself, however he did provide the assist for George Elokobi's equalising goal. The Colchester fans and Callum himself can be very pleased with this opening man of the match awarding display.
