Crowds Rise Again

9 May 2016

7% growth for U's in 2015/16.

Colchester United supporters backed their team in greater numbers in 2015/16, with the club enjoying 7% crowd growth.

Although the team were unable to pull clear of trouble at the foot of the League One table, the U's efforts to provide a positive matchday experience and excellent ticketing options have helped grow the average to 4,135 by the time the final whistle blew on the game against Rochdale on Sunday afternoon.

That was up from 3,887 the season before, with plenty of new fans backing the club over the past nine months.

"We have been delighted to see crowd numbers grow once again this season," U's General Manager Tim Waddington said.

"We have now seen crowd growth in the past three seasons, which shows remarkable commitment from our supporters in that time and we would like to thank them for their backing once again this season.

"Sunday's support against Rochdale was exceptional and really appreciated by all at the club.

"We have new challenges and opportunities in front of us next season but we are confident that our supporters will stick with us and back the boys when things get underway again in August."

This season's growth of 7% means that, over the past three seasons, the U's attendances have grown by a fantastic 17%.

With prices being reduced around the stadium for the 2016/17 campaign, along with the exciting opportunities around Season Tickets, Annual Memberships and Match Credits, we are confident that 2016/17 will be a season to remember.
