U's See Off Canaries

4 August 2015

Walker plays 70 minutes in behind closed doors friendly.

"It was a good test in a like for like contest age wise and it was good for the players to get one last run out before the season starts," boss Tony Humes told the official website.

First year scholar Eoin McKeown continued his own free scoring pre-season with two goals in the second half.

Sammie grabbed a first half double and also missed a penalty, whilst Tosin Olufemi also notched in the opening 45 minutes.

Sam Walker was able to get 70 minutes for the U's, whilst Sammie Szmodics also played an hour as he sharpens up ahead of the new campaign having missed the last couple of friendlies.

The match was put together to allow players from both sides to get vital match minutes ahead of the new season.

Colchester United saw off Norwich City in a friendly game at Florence Park on Tuesday afternoon.
"It was a good solid performance in what proved to be a worthwhile game for us.
"When you play Category One sides, you expect to have to work hard the players did just that. Their work ethic was good and it was a positive way to round off pre-season."
