Tom completes 39 mile run for charity.

Colchester United fan Tom Leggett had a day to remember on Saturday as the U's took on Southend United in the latest Essex derby.

Tom is still counting the very kind donations from both sets of supporters, but it looks like in excess of £3,000 was raised on the day in a fantastic show of unity by both sets of fans.

The Blue Boar and Spread Eagle pubs in Southend both held fundraising raffles for Tom and Alfie, before the Shrimpers welcomed the long serving U's fan for a lap of honour before the game.

Setting off at 4am, Tom kept Twitter followers updated with his progress on the journey to the south of the county and made it to the Blue Boar pub for a much deserved pint just after 2pm.

In his latest fundraising efforts for his son Alfie, Tom ran the 39.1 mile journey between the Weston Homes Community Stadium and Roots Hall.
