Tony Rewarded On Saturday

26 May 2016

U's physio presented with long service award.

Colchester United physiotherapist Tony Flynn was presented with a special long service award on Saturday evening.

Tony was acknowledged by his peers at a conference held by the Football Medical Association for his longevity in the professional game.

He became part of the '21 Club' which commemorates medical professionals who have worked for 21 years or more within professional football.

"It is always nice to get acknowledged by your peer group and it was a very positive weekend all round," Tony told the club website.

"The award used to be for those that had completed 1,000 matchdays but, with many medical professionals having roles at clubs that aren't directly part of matchdays, they've adjusted the award slightly.

"I was very pleased to be presented with the award and I'm looking forward to next season with Colchester."

There was a strong U's connection on the night, with former physio Brian Owen and ex-player Steve Allen, now working on the physiotherapy side of the game, also presented with membership of the 21 Club.
