A Collective Effort

9 October 2015

Boss believes recent success is reward for a united United.

He said: "It's great to be nominated for awards, but it was down to everyone's hard work - it's been a collective effort of everyone working together and believing in what we do, even when results hadn't been going our way.

Tony, George Moncur and Jamie Jones have all received acclaim for their contribution in the recently monthly awards, and the boss was keen to point out that there have been many who have done their bit in a positive few weeks.

Colchester United boss Tony Humes believes that the team's recent progress up the League One table has come as a result of a united effort on and off the pitch.

"The players that have come in have made a difference, we have everyone pulling together and we have shown that we are a decent team. If we play to our maximum, we have a good chance of getting results."

The U's go to Shrewsbury at the weekend looking to build on recent positive performances and to start another unbeaten run after the defeat to Bury last Saturday.

He added: "The results means confidence grows amongst everyone and ultimately gets rewards.

Despite the reverse, the mood amongst fans and players alike remains buoyant and Tony is looking for his team to keep it going this weekend.

"It was a negative result last weekend, but a positive performance.

"The fans recognise what we're trying to do and they've been great in their support."

"Even when we went chasing the equalising goal, we were still getting success by sticking with our style of play.

"The fans saw that we were trying to play some good stuff, but couldn't quite get the goal.
