Surface Works Begin

26 May 2015

First phases of work completed.

Work has begun on the pitch at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The final pitch hire took place on Saturday evening, and work on the new surface began on Sunday morning.
Forty-eight hours later, and Head Groundsman David Blacknall was already overseeing the fourth phase of the works.

He explained: "Early on Sunday morning, work began to strip the very top layer off, in readiness for a new layer of 100 tonnes of sand to be put down.

"That sand went down on the Sunday afternoon and Bank Holiday Monday before the whole surface was verti-drained, and today, the first seeding is taking place. "We have about a seven week window but the majority of the heavy renovation work is done in the first week or so and then it's a case of growing it in."
