Warriors Rest facility now up and running.
Colchester United's indoor pitch at Warriors' Rest was launched on Saturday morning.
The pitch was constructed in order that the U's meet the criteria for their Category Two Academy status, which was approved at an audit earlier in January.
The indoor pitch, half a mile from the U's training ground at Florence Park, features a 70x50 surface and will be used not only by the Colchester United first team and Academy players, but by local youth sides in the area.
The launch on Saturday saw chairman Robbie Cowling and Academy Manager Tony Ashby declare the facility open, as they also welcomed Brendan Walsh, County Development Manager at the Essex FA along with U's first team members Frankie Kent, Drey Wright and Tosin Olufemi.
This was followed by a round robin tournament, featuring players from the U's Academy U9s, our Football in the Community U10s and Tiptree Jobserve's U10s and was watched by many of the parents of the children taking part.
