Cyclists Reach Matlock

24 April 2015

Good progress for U's fundraisers.

Colchester United's charity cyclists have made good progress in their first couple of days, making it as far as Matlock in Derbyshire for their pit stop on Thursday night.

Having stopped at Peterborough on Wednesday, they safely made it to Matlock, before Friday's penultimate leg on their trip to Fleetwood.

Friday's journey will see them traverse the Yorkshire Dales and stop in Preston, before knocking off the final miles on Saturday morning.

The ride is just the latest in a series of club activities in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and Robbie, soon to become a grandparent for a second time, is keen to keep the club's connection with this fantastic charity.

He said: "I do these rides because I've been lucky enough to dodge that bullet with my children and grandchildren, but Stuart hasn't been as lucky.

"He and Lea Finch started this some time ago, so we want to keep it going and raise some important funds."

The U's go to Fleetwood knowing that three points will keep the teams above them in reach ahead of a home double to conclude the 2014/15 campaign.

And Robbie finished by saying: "So far, every game we've cycled to, we've got a positive result, starting with Southend back in 2006, so hopefully it'll be the same this time around."
