Eddie Visits Maylandsea

Mascot helps with charity fundraiser.

Colchester United mascot Eddie the Eagle and Football in the Community staff visited Maylandsea Community Primary School last week to help raise money for the CLIC Sargent charity.

The U's were invited to Maylandsea as part of an event organised by one of the school's young pupils and his teachers.

Timmy had been suffering from Ewings Sarcoma cancer and, after several sessions of chemotherapy and some major surgery, it is hoped he has now finished his treatment.

A huge football fan, Timmy wanted to hold a football day to help raise funds for the charity, so Eddie and community coach Ryan Hull visited the school last Friday.

They gave the school a signed ball for their auction, whilst Eddie went in goal for a penalty shoot-out against the children.

We hope Timmy had a great day and look forward to finding out how much he raised!
