Mixed Results For Loanees

24 November 2014

We take a look at the U's quintet currently playing elsewhere.

It was a mixed weekend for the U's players currently on loan at other clubs, with a Man of the Match award and a red card amongst our number plying their trade away from the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Marcus Bean made his debut for League Two side Portsmouth on Saturday, as they looked to bounce back from midweek FA Cup disappointment.

And the powerful midfielder helped Pompey return to winning ways as they saw off Morecambe by a 3-0 scoreline.

The day wasn't such a good one for Jabo Ibehre. He had put in a positive display for Oldham in their away draw at Sheffield United, but his afternoon was marred by two yellow cards that saw him given his marching orders five minutes from time.

Josh Thompson was out of action for Tranmere on Saturday. Having picked up a hamstring injury the week previous, it looks unlikely that he will play again for Rovers in his current loan spell.

Dan Holman was on the losing side for once with Aldershot, as they were undone by Eastleigh in their latest home game.

Meanwhile, young defender Billy Roast got life at AFC Hornchurch underway with an impressive display at centre half for the Urchins.

The Essex side, sitting bottom of the Ryman Premier League, battled to a 1-1 draw against rivals East Thurrock to lift themselves up a place to 23rd.

And finally, Conor Hubble's month long stint with Leiston is over, and he finished by helping the Suffolk side to their third consecutive home win as they beat Wingate & Finchley 2-0.
