Month's loan for young midfielder.
Young Colchester United midfielder Sammie Szmodics has headed out on loan, joining Braintree Town on a month's loan.
Sammie, who has made six appearances for the first team this season, will head out to the Iron for four weeks to get some regular competitive match action under his belt.
He begins his loan spell with a home game against Macclesfield Town on Saturday and his five match loan stint will run until November 28th and another fixture against Torquay United.
Sammie is looking forward to the move, saying: "I've been back and fully fit for a little while now and I'm looking forward to going out and playing some competitive football.
"I went training with them last night and they're all looking forard to Saturday's game, so it'll be good to be part of the group. They've been winning a lot of games recently and scoring a lot of goals, so hopefully I can help."
Sammie follows in the footsteps of Alex Gilbey, who went out on loan to Newport County in their non-league days and Sammie is hoping it will provide a similar springboard back into the first team.
He recalled: "Alex went out when he was a bit younger than me and it worked really well for him and it is definitely a good opportunity.
"It will be good to get playing and get my touch and confidence back and hopefully I will come back better and stronger, ready to fight for my place once again."
