We're Ready

27 April 2015

A message from the manager ahead of our big home double.

Ahead of a big home double this week, Colchester United boss Tony Humes has written the following message to the club's supporters.

We go into the final week of the season knowing that our destiny is in our own hands.

The players and coaching staff came into training on Monday fully focussed on the task ahead, determined to finish the season on the right note and secure our League One safety.

The players have demonstrated to me in recent weeks that they are up for the fight and we have collected points at a very positive rate in the last couple of months. We have 14 points from our last eight matches and the players have achieved that by hard work and by sticking to our principles when the going has got tough.

There was no better example of that than at Fleetwood on Saturday, where the team kept going until the very end of the game to collect a crucial victory to set up this very important week at our own stadium.

The players thrive on positive support and your backing in the last two matches will be crucial in helping us gain the results we're all striving for. This could be a memorable week for the club and its time at the new stadium.

For those of you that have backed us over the course of the season, and in the last few weeks in particular, I thank you.

It looks like we will be particularly well supported in these last two matches, so my thanks to those of you who are persuading family and friends to join us for the final 180 minutes of the season. Please give the players everything you can, as together we can achieve what we're looking for.

There will no doubt be many twists and turns over the next couple of games, but the team and backroom staff are ready to go and I am sure you all are too.

Up the U's,
Tony Humes
