The U's will face their toughest test of pre-season on Saturday as they take on Premiership side Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters have enjoyed a busy build up to the new campaign, with a host of new signings arriving at the Reebok Stadium under the management of Sammy Lee.
Most of those new faces are due to make the trip to north Essex on Saturday, with Swedish winger Christian Wilhelmsson due to make his first appearance in a Bolton shirt at Layer Road.
And, despite the overhaul in the Bolton squad, skipper Kevin Nolan believes the team will do well once again this year.
"It is the players that have turned us into a force over the last few years," he told the club's website.
"With the right blend of youth and experience we are capable of doing well again this season.
"The signs are very positive."
Tickets for this game are still available - and will be on the day - for £12 Adults and £6 Concessions in the seating areas and £10 and £5 in the terraces.
Don't forget you can get your hands on our special double edition U's Review magazine, which within its 100 pages includes full coverage of Bolton as well as last week's visitors Liverpool.
Also, with August having arrived this week, fans are reminded that parking restrictions on Layer Road and the surrounding roads are back in force this weekend.
