Work will soon be getting underway to prepare the U's new shop in the town centre.

Further to last week's news that the club were looking at a premise in the town, the decision has now been made to take the unit until the end of the Christmas period in the first instance.

Efforts are now starting on preparing the unit for opening as soon as possible.

The shop, based in Lion Walk just off the High Street, is likely to stock as many of the U's product ranges as possible, highlighting some Christmas offers in particular.

Retail Manager Lee Hyde said: "It is obviously in our own interests to get the shop up and running as soon as possible and although it is a temporary measure at the moment, it will give us good scope to see what potential a unit in town could bring."

The club are looking at logistics behind selling tickets from the shop and some firm decisions will be made in due course.
