U's Central: Today's The Day!

Posted on: Sat 09 May 2009

The launch of the U's new shop in the town centre is TODAY.

The retail team got the keys last week and have been busy beavering away to ensure that U's Central is ready for launch on Saturday (May 9th).

The new look signage went up on Thursday afternoon as the final touches were put together.

Below are the main headlines ahead of the launch - which we'd love you to be a part of!

There will be a very interesting surprise at the time of the launch - get along for 10.30am on Saturday to find out what's going on!

NINE DAYS TO GO
We're pleased to confirm that Eddie the Eagle will be in attendance on Saturday, to lend his helping hand (or is that wing?!) to the launch. If you want to meet Colchester's leading mascot - and winner of this year's Mascot Race at the stadium - then come along and see Eddie. He's going to be there all day!

TEN DAYS TO GO
The retail team received their keys and got on with the work of preparing the shop for the launch.

Speaking in Saturday's matchday magazine, Retail Supervisor Louise Grimwade said: "We want the club to have a presence in the town.

"We want visitors to Colchester to know that the club is there and this is just the starting point of our efforts to expand our exposure in the town centre.

"We took plenty of time in choosing this particular location as we wanted to be right at the heart of the community. We feel that this is a great position for us and we are keen to really develop our offer.

"The shop will play an important role in talking to new people in the town centre - it will be at the hub of what we do.

"As much as anything, it will be a great sales tool for us as it will have all ticket sales and information on the events that are on offer at the stadium."
