Colchester United games will get more coverage than ever in 2009/10, thanks to a new deal agreed with BBC Essex.

The local radio station have decided to cover every single U's game in the coming season - home and away - as Paul Lambert's men work hard to push for promotion in the next nine months.

BBC Essex managing editor Gerald Main said: "We're hoping it's going to be a fabulous season but whatever happens we'll be there for every game, home and away.

"It's taken a bit of time to dot the i's and cross the t's but we're delighted to be working so closely with the U's.

"Licence fee payers get a whole raft of services from the BBC for their money, including TV, online, speech and music radio and sport is also an important part of that.

"We think this is both a good value deal for the BBC but also good for the clubs in the current climate.

"We'll be raring to go when the season starts, 95.3FM will be the place to be for Southend United fans and 103.5FM for Colchester supporters."

Coverage will continue on the new look U's Player for the 2009/10 season and, with the season less than a week away, excitement is rising.

"We are delighted to once again be working with BBC Essex," U's Media Manager Matt Hudson added.

"They have provided us with a first class service in recent years and we believe the new deal will give the club higher profile than ever before as we look to have a successful season on and off the pitch."
