U's Seek Acceptable Compensation Figure

Colchester United and Norwich City are 'significantly' apart as they seek to find an agreeable compensation figure, following the resignation of boss Paul Lambert.
U's Chief Executive Steve Bradshaw spoke on Tuesday afternoon at a press conference, following the departure of the Scotsman, coach Ian Culverhouse and Football Operations Manager Gary Karsa.
"The two clubs are significantly apart as far as the figures on the table are concerned," he said.
"At the moment we are six figures apart, but I must stress there is no antipathy with Norwich City and we are working with them to try and come to an acceptable figure.
"Clearly, if it is proven that there has been a breach of League regulations, then the matter may go to tribunal, but we are not out to make enemies. If we can agree a figure, we'll move on.
"Their figure refers only to the salaries concerned, whereas we're considering a range of issues at present.
"We will also be looking to get a clause where no Colchester players will head to Norwich before the end of this season as part of the package."
Steve, who took up his post in December 2008, has already been pleased with the calibre of 'remarkable' candidates who have already shown a strong interest in job.
"We just want a manager who is a real winner," he added.
"The person that comes here will have a clear steer on what we want as a club and that we retain that intention to become a sustainable Championship club.
"We have had some remarkable candidates already getting in touch and so we remain confident that we can appoint a talented manager."
