Your Chance To Show Your Support

Posted on: Thu 01 Oct 2009

Get your tickets! Buy online for the weekend match as the U's look to continue their great form against Huddersfield colutickets.com! You can also ring 0845 437 9089 or visit either of the club's two shops!

Colchester United's crowds are on the rise and we want you to help them climb even further as Aidy Boothroyd's men's push for promotion gathers momentum.

The U's are unbeaten since Aidy rolled into town and the club are experiencing massive interest in their games on the back of Tuesday's magnificent win against Charlton Athletic.

The 7,098 crowd for the Addicks match was the U's biggest midweek crowd for some 38 years and the current seasonal average of 5,886 is the highest since 1971 as the town gets behind its team at levels not seen for a generation.

The U's have averaged over 5,000 for the previous three seasons (the first time in 45 years), and look set to break the 6,000 average this season for the first time since that memorable season in 1970/1.

As the U's look to build on the foundations of a hugely successful start to the season, the club are keen to give fans every opportunity to get behind Essex's leading football team.

Supporters are now able to buy for the four biggest games between now and May.

"We have been delighted with the way that the town has started to really get behind the team," U's Chief Executive Steve Bradshaw said.

"We are seeing sustained crowd at a level not seen for over a generation and there is every indication that, with the team pushing for promotion, those crowds are likely to rise as the season goes on.

"We have seen in several of our home matches this season that our fans are as proud to be from the town of Colchester as we are at the football club, and we are keen to do all we can to fill the stadium on a regular basis."

The matches against Southampton (December 28th), Norwich City (January 16th), Southend United (February 6th) and Leyton Orient (May 8th) will be available for sale throughout the coming months.

"The match against Southampton is a great one for us to be able to get on sale early," Steve explained.

"We always enjoy good crowds over the festive period, but we hope by making them available earlier, then it could make a great Christmas present for any U's follower."

Following the very successful work to fill the South Stand so far this season, it is hoped that the extended periods of sale for these games will allow Colchester United fans and the people of the town keen to become supporters to get behind their local side and fill up the East Stand as well.

Our goal is to see the whole of the East Stand retained by U's supporters, rather than being handed over to an extended visiting support for those matches.

We have to sell the seats to home fans to make this happen - and so we need your help!
