Can U's Continue Winning Streak?

Posted on: Sat 03 Oct 2009

BETTING TIPS BY CHARLIE ALLEN
Following a fabulous night of football on Tuesday, the U's host Huddersfield in another difficult fixture at The Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The U's beat Charlton 3-0 mid-week and with a new found confidence under Aidy Boothroyd will be looking to dish out a similar trouncing to The Terriers!

Match betting sees Boothroyd's men as favourites with odds of 6/5, Huddersfield go into the match with odds of 11/5.

The draw is priced at 12/5 and I think that's a fair spread, plenty of money to be made if you back yourself depending on what outcome you fancy.

The U's have named an unnamed squad from the Charlton Fixture and are more than likely going to keep with the same starting eleven.

This would see midweek hero Kayode Odejayi start up front with Clive Platt.

Following Odejayi's two goals in midweek the powerful front man has been priced at 6/1 to open the scoring. His probable partner Platt has slightly shorter odds of 11/2.

Platt is joint favourite to break the deadlock, the other man with his name next to those odds is Kevin Lisbie. The U's top scorer so far this season is again likely to start on the right wing but is always a big danger.

Talking about goalscoring without mentioning the names of Jordan Rhodes and Theo Robinson would almost be a sin.

So far, the two strikers have five goals each and are proving to be one of the most dangerous front pairings in the league.

Ex-Ipswich man Rhodes signed for The Terriers for a bargain £150,000 and will be a danger to the U's defence all afternoon if he is on form. He has odds of 13/2 to net first.

His partner up top Robinson has odds of 7/1 to score first on the day.

As for the rest of the market for first goalscorer, Anthony Kay is a good price at 14/1 for Huddersfield and Lionel Ainsworth could be trouble for the U's defenders.

He has odds of 12/1. The U's themselves have Anthony Wordsworth at 12/1 and Kem Izzet at 22/1, both are due a goal!

Scorewise on the day I can see it being a very close game. The U's have odds of 8/1 for a 2-1 win and that looks a good bet.

The Terriers however have odds of 10/1 for a victory with the same scoreline.

The best bet I can see in the correct score market though is a 2-2 draw with odds of 12/1. Both sides have goalscorers throughout their teams and 2-2 looks a good price to me

Away from Colchester for a bit and in a strange turn of events in the Premiership Harry Redknapp has been made 6/5 favourite to be the next top flight manager to part company with his club.

The veteran boss has denied rumours linking him with the exit door at White Hart Lane but the bookies believe it to be only a matter of time now.

Tottenham travel to Bolton tomorrow and I can see Gary Megson's men getting all three points.

Hull host Wigan at The KC Stadium and Phil Brown, another manager also under pressure, will be looking for his team to get out of their current bad patch of form.

Wolves host Portsmouth in another big game and with Portsmouth still not picking up a single point they will be starting to forget what winning feels like, tomorrows game at Molineux will be very important for all concerned.

U's v Huddersfield: Prediction: 2-2
Outside Bet: Kem Izzet 1st scorer @ 22/1
Accumulator tip: Bolton, Plymouth, Stockport, Darlington
