BETTING TIPS BY CHARLIE ALLEN
The U's travel to rivals Wycombe this weekend and will be looking to keep up their brilliant form, which has seen them go seven games unbeaten.

The Wanderers on the other hand will be hoping that newly appointed manager Gary Waddock will be able to get his regime as manager off to a winning start.

The U's are priced at evens to win the match, with Wycombe priced at 11/4. The draw has odds of 12/5. United currently find themselves in 3rd position and Wanderers in 23rd, so these odds aren't overly surprising.

Saturday is a special day for an individual player as well as the two sides as it sees Kevin Lisbie celebrate his 31st birthday.

The U's front man will be looking to mark the occasion in style with a goal or three. Lisbie is 5/1 to score first on the day and also has odds of 60/1 to score first in a 3-1 U's win. 3-1 being 31 and, of course, that'll be his age!

The other main contenders to break the deadlock on Saturday are, Kayode Odejayi (11/2), Matt Harold (15/2), Clive Platt (5/1), Jon Paul Pittman (17/2) and Chris Zebroski (8/1) all have a good chance of bagging the first goal on the day.

Away from hot-shot strikers for a moment and you can get some decent odds on others to score the first goal on Saturday.

Anthony Wordsworth has odds of 12/1 and John Joe O'Toole has big odds of 14/1 with the midfielder starting to trouble goalkeepers regularly.

Magnus Okuonghae is due a goal and at 28/1, I'll have some money on the big man scoring first!

Wycombe have Kevin Betsy and Ian Westlake at 12/1 to score first on the day and the midfielders certainly are capable of bagging a goal.

Michael Duberry, now earning a crust with the Wanderers, has long odds of 40/1 to score first and he usually gets his head on the end of set pieces.

As for the score on the day, the U's are 6/1 to steal the game 1-0 as they did at Orient.

Ben Williams in goal for Colchester has now gone over 300 minutes without conceding a goal and will be looking to keep that fine run going with another clean sheet.

I think the odds of 50/1 for the U's to win 4-0 are worth a quid.

Should you think the teams are going to play out a draw I think the best odds there fall on 2-2 priced at 12/1.

Last of all, should Gary Waddock lead his side to a victory in his first game, I can see the best odds of 12/1 for Wycombe to win 2-1.

Away from the U's briefly, the Premiership is back this weekend and sees a few tasty games.

Aston Villa host Chelsea and I think former Wycombe manager Martin O'Neill's men can cause an upset there so I'm predicting a Villa victory.

There is another potential upset in the top flight that I can see as Liverpool travel to The Stadium of Light to face Sunderland. I think the Black Cats are playing well currently and I can see them beating the Reds.

The big game in The Championship sees Newcastle travel to Nottingham Forest and, after a few recent slip ups, the Magpies will be looking to get back on track.

I can see Forest beating them however with a big crowd sure to be packed into the City Ground.

Elsewhere in League One, Leeds host Norwich in the big game and Huddersfield travel to Charlton. I reckon both of these games will finish with the sides level so think a draw double there could be profitable.

As for League Two, moneybags Notts County travel to Rotherham and my money there is on County.

Their away form currently is not impressive, but with their odds of 2/1 to win the match I really can't not back them.

I'd throw on to that bet Accrington to beat Bournemouth and Burton to beat Barnet and you have yourself a good little treble if the upsets do happen.

Wycombe v U's prediction: 1-3
Best Bet: Magnus Okuonghae 1st scorer @ 28/1
Accumulator tip: Villa, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest, Accrington
