U's manager Aidy Boothroyd has urged his players not to get ahead of themselves, following their recent excellent run of form.

The U's go into Saturday's big game against Wycombe Wanderers on the back of a seven game unbeaten run, and with a tide of rising expectation behind them.

However, the recently appointed boss wants his players to stay focussed and not let complacency take over.

"It is important that we don't get too excited with ourselves," he told the club's official website.

"Complacency will be our biggest problem. It is OK when you are chasing the pack, but once you are up at the top and successful, your identity for other clubs will change.

"We must respect our opponents and look forward to a derby game with a bit of history.

"We will take a good travelling support, it will be a real humdinger and we will want to maintain our unbeaten run and get points out of the game."

The match on Saturday will see Gary Waddock make his Wycombe bow in front of a good sized crowd, looking to make a good first impression.

And Aidy is well aware that it could make it a more difficult encounter this weekend.

He added: "It is never nice to see a fellow manager go and Peter Taylor will soon be back in the game.

"Gary Waddock has done very well at Aldershot and has a chance to step up.

"He will want his team to reflect him and his ideas, and I think the game will be a really tough one.

"I am aware of the history and that there is a rivalry there. Each set of fans will want to get one up on the others.

"As far as we're concerned, we know this is a real banana skin and they'll want to kick start their season under the new manager and build from there.

"Everyone talks about t
he new manager bounce, but you hope that we can have the ball that keeps on bouncing  until the end of the season."
