The U's have been able to name a strong squad once again, as they head to Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.

Aidy Boothroyd's men will be without Scott Vernon, who joined Gillingham on a month's loan this week, but otherwise they're looking in good shape for the match in Buckinghamshire.

The three players that were substituted with injuries at Leyton Orient last week - John White, Kevin Lisbie and Kayode Odejayi - have all made the squad for the weekend game.

But the wait goes on for Pat Baldwin, whilst Ashley Vincent had a successful operation to remove some floating bone from his ankle earlier this week.

"Tony Flynn went to Ashley's operation and everything has gone well," manager Aidy Boothroyd said.

"I saw Ashley a couple of days ago and he will begin his
rehabilitation process now and it will be like having a new signing in December time.

"Pat has taken a lot longer than we originally thought he would, and when your captain is out of the team you want him back as soon as possible.

"He is working hard with Tony to do just that, but he doesn't want to rush himself back because he wants to be able to play and not risk another injury."

There was better news for Paul Reid as he continues his comeback from a fractured kneecap, an injury that has ruled him out since March.

Aidy added: "Paul is training with the first team now and has played 30 minutes and 45 minutes in the reserves.

"He is pushing hard - his biggest strength is perhaps his biggest weakness. He has that desire and attitude to work hard, but we are having to handcuff him to the chair to make sure that he doesn't do any extra.

"But I would rather have players like that than having to kick him to get going.

"When he gets ready he'll be an asset to the squad and the team."
