The U's reserves continued their excellent start to the season, with a resounding 7-1 win against Stevenage Borough on Wednesday night.

Joel Thomas opened the scoring early on for the U's and although the home side were to grab an equaliser, they were only level for a further five minutes before Steven Gillespie restored the lead from the penalty spot.

Thomas' winding run ended with his second and the U's third as the League One side moved clear, before David Fox made it four with a header just before the stroke of half time.

The U's were not to take their foot off the gas, though, as Gillespie followed Fox's lead with another header for his second goal of the game and his fourth in two reserve team fixtures - seven in three if you include the friendly against Grays.

Substitute Russell Malton made it six not long after being introduced, before Phil Ifil followed up on a rebound off the crossbar to complete the scoring.
