BETTING TIPS BY CHARLIE ALLEN
The U's take on Walsall on Saturday and will be looking to continue their brilliant recent home form with a win against The Saddlers.

Colchester go into the game as favourites with odds of 7/10, Walsall have long odds of 4/1 to leave Essex with all 3 points and the draw is priced at 13/5.

The U's are currently on an eight match unbeaten run and will be hoping a solid victory against The Saddlers can keep them hot on the heels of the League One leaders Leeds.

The score when these two met last season was a 2-0 victory for Walsall and that has very long odds for repeating itself this season with bet365 pricing it at 25/1.

They predict its more likely to be a U's victory with 1-0 the favourite scoreline at 6/1. 2-0 can get you odds of 6/1 as well with 3-0 at 12/1.

Should you fancy another upset this season with Walsall beating the U's then you can get very good odds on correct scorelines for a Saddlers win.

1-0 Walsall is priced at a very big 9/1 and as early mentioned 2-0 is at a huge 25/1.

You can get odds of 16/1 for a 2-1 Walsall win and if I was a Saddlers fan I would definitely back my team to sneak a win with a few quid on each of them!

You can gets odds of 6/1 for a 1-1 draw and 10/1 for a 0-0 scoreline. 2-2 is always a bet I like and that's out at 14/1.

With bet365 seemingly writing off Walsall's chances of getting anything at The Weston Homes Community Stadium, I truly believe there is money to be made on this match.

As for the first goalscorer on the day, Kayode Odejayi is the favourite with odds of 5/1 to bag the first goal to continue his impressive loan spell.

Kevin Lisbie and Clive Platt both share odds of 9/2 and with Platt likely to start up top with Odejayi I feel he is due a goal so can see him scoring first.

Walsall have Troy Deeney as there best bet with odds of 17/2 to score first and the lively forward certainly represents value for money at that price.

As in my opinion does Darren Byfield who has odds of 10/1 to break the deadlock on the day.

Walsall's two goal hero in their last match Steve Jones has odds of 12/1 to net first and keep up his impressive form.

If its players with longer odds you like to have a punt on for first scorer then there are plenty to choose from.

Magnus Okounghae has odds of 28/1 and the ''Beast'' is always a threat from set pieces.

Recently signed, on loan midfielder Josh Payne could start in the midfield for Colchester and the West Ham youngster has odds of 12/1 to bag the first goal on his U's debut.

John-Joe O'Toole again springs to mind as a candidate for first scorer with the energetic midfielder looking more likely to score in every game.

Walsall have Clayton McDonald back in the centre of there defence and he has odds of 40/1 to score first on Saturday.

Dwayne Mattis has odds of 22/1 to net first on the day and having already opened his account for the season he will be looking to get another goal to his name.

Away from the U's briefly, and last week I correctly predicted Aston Villa to beat Chelsea, Sunderland to beat Liverpool and Nottingham Forest to beat Newcastle so I hope some of you took those tips and won some money!

In the Premiership this weekend, the big game is on Sunday at Anfield with struggling Liverpool hosting Manchester United.

The Merseyside club done the double over United last season but have lost their last four games in all competitions.

Should United win then it could spell the end to Rafa Benitez' reign at Anfield.

Elsewhere Hull host Portsmouth in what is already being billed as a six pointer with both clubs looking likely to be in for a very long season.

West Ham face Arsenal in an all London encounter at Upton Park in a game that I can see The Hammers winning.

In The Championship the biggest game of the weekend is down at Home Park where Plymouth play host to Ipswich.

Both sides are struggling at the foot of the table and Ipswich still haven't won a match this season.

I've been avoiding writing about them in these articles as to not jinx there terrible form but I think it'll finally come to an end on Saturday.

Managerless Middlesborough travel to Preston following the sacking of Gareth Southgate, however Gordon Strachan is likely to be appointed manager before the match.

In League One, Charlton travel to Gillingham and Leeds travel to Millwall and I can see both of the home sides getting a win in those two matches.

That's my tip for a double and if you are feeling lucky why not throw Swindon to beat Norwich in as well to make it a tasty treble!

I can't see many surprises being thrown up in League Two but if I was forced to pick an upset I'd probably say Grimsby might snatch a draw at Bournemouth!

U's vs Walsall prediction: 2-1
Best Bet: Darren Byfield 1st scorer @ 10/1
Accumulator tip: Gillingham, Millwall and Swindon!
