Steven Gillespie scored twice as the U's reserves won 3-1 against Peterborough United.

The other goal was scored by Sam Corcoran, while the Posh strike came courtesy of a first half spot kick.

After five months out injured with an ankle injury, Ashley Vincent made his return to match action, getting through an hour for an experienced U's second string.

While the home side failed to make the most of a couple of half chances, Corcoran opened the scoring inside fifteen minutes for the U's.

He found himself with just the keeper to beat and duly squeezed the ball home past McKeown in the home goal.

Gillespie then put the U's two up when he and Simon Hackney combined well and the lively Scouser finished things off from close range.

Halfway through the first period, the home side reduced the arrears with a spot kick from Wright, after Danny Batth was adjudged to have fouled Day in the box.

Gillespie regained the U's two goal cushion when he was left unmarked in the six yard box to head home a U's corner.

Posh keeper McKeown had saved well to give the U's the corner but was helpless as Gillespie headed home.

The second half was a much quieter affair, with neither team being able to finish chances.

Ashley Vincent was back for the U's after a five month lay-off and played for an hour before being replaced by Jordan Lartey.
