U's boss Aidy Boothroyd believes the next week will tell him a lot about his side's promotion credentials.

The U's face yet another Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday fixture schedule and two of those games are sizeable journeys on the road.

Stockport County are first up at the weekend, before a midweek trip for the rearranged game against Yeovil Town.

And Aidy wants to see what his side can do when faced with a different kind of challenge.

"For me, the next six games are going to be the most important of the season so far," he told the official website.

"We have two very difficult away games. The teams we are playing are not at the top of the division, so this is the sort of time that complacency could creep in and so we have to avoid that.

"This is where we find out whether we're a promotion winning team or not."

Stockport have endured a tough season at the foot of the League One table as pressures on and off the pitch have taken their toll.

But Aidy believes that the opponent's position in the league could allow them to play with more freedom this weekend.

"
When in dire straits, sometimes it takes the pressure off, whilst we are expected to win.

"For us, our good form creates its own pressures - success means you expect more success. It is a nice problem to have and I would rather have that than being at the other end of the table.

"It is going to be tough and we have to make sure we are fully focussed and treat next six games like cup finals. We need to keep up the pressure on the top three and keep the gap below."

The match at Edgeley Park will see Aidy back in the dugouts after missing Monday's win over Southend and the U's manager was delighted to see how his side coped without him for the televised game.

"I want to go on record to thank them all for pulling together. I was once asked on a leadership course whether I could have a team that can do it themselves, and at the moment, yes they can.

"I'm only a part of it - everyone pulled together and we got a very good result and a clean sheet in a very difficult fixture.

"I was very pleased and proud that the show could go on and I am now looking forward to Saturday."
