Former U's goalkeeping star Alec Chamberlain is the latest former player to confirm his attendance at the U's upcoming Former Players' Dinner.

Alec was a regular between the sticks for the U's, before going on to enjoy a fantastic career as a goalkeeper in the higher levels of the game.

More recently, he worked alongside current Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd during his time at Watford.

Aidy will also be in attendance on April 9th, and other recently confirmed attendees are Keith Bowen and Bert Hill.

With the U's move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium in 2008, the club was delighted to provide assistance in the formation of the Former Players Association.

The Association, chaired by U's Player of the Century Peter Wright, has hosted a number of events in the time since then, including a hugely popular dinner ahead of last season's home game against Leeds United.

This year's dinner will work to raise funds for the U's Centre of Excellence programme and Stadium Legens project, with the heroes of Colchester United's history helping provide funds for the potential superstars of the future.

The Weston Homes Community Stadium will again play host to the Former Players Association on Friday April 9th. A superb three course meal and entertainment will be on offer on the night, as well as the club inducting its latest players into the prestigious Hall of Fame.

There is also the chance for you to attend this glittering event and meet some of your heroes of yesteryear. These nights tend to be the ones where the memories of the club's great days flow as quickly as the wine and really shouldn't be missed.

Tickets for the night are available at £40 a head, which includes the three course meal and a half bottle of wine per ticket. You can book your place by calling John Schultz on 01206 767678 or by e-mailing
john.schultz@colchesterunited.net.

John told CU-FC.com that he was looking forward to building on the success of last year's dinnre and the Stadium Legends project.

We currently have 200-plus players out of the 700 or more that have represented the club on our database, but please contact John with details of any ex-player that you have an address for - we would love to be able to speak to as many as possible.

Who Will Get The Hall Of Fame Nod?
There are currently twenty players inducted into the Colchester United Hall of Fame.

This prestigious group have had their superb service to the club acknowledged, and will forever be remembered for what they did in the famous blue and white stripes.

The current inductees (by year of induction) are:-

The club are currently inviting suggestions for the 2010 Inductees, of which there will be two.

From that list of suggestions, a shortlist will be drawn up and further votes will be accepted by the U's ahead of this year's dinner.

Suggestions should be sent either by e-mail to
media@colchesterunited.net or by post to the following address: Hall of Fame, Media Department, Colchester United FC, Weston Homes Community Stadium, United Way, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5UP.

We look forward to hearing from you - and to seeing as many of you as we can at the upcoming dinner!
