The U's youth team were narrowly defeated on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Barnet.

In an evenly contested match, defences were on top and chances for either side were few and far between and it was an eighty second minute goal that undid the U's defence.

The pitch wasn't conducive to fast flowing football and despite the U's best efforts, the home keeper wasn't tested as much as Tony Humes and his young side would have hoped.

Freddie Ladapo worked tirelessly and had the best of the U's few chances but the home defence stood strong.

The U's defence was also restricting the Bees' chances and with the clock ticking down, were unfortunate to concede the only goal of the game.

A shot from the edge of the penalty area struck the post and then rebounded off keeper Shane Cusack's foot, allowing a Barnet forward to tap home.

Once again, it was a young side that took to the field for the U's, with most of the squad made up of U16s.

A similar squad will be taking on another London club next, with Queens Park Rangers providing the opposition.
