The Big Day Awaits For Eddie

U's mascot Eddie the Eagle and retail manager Lee Hyde have been given a boost by the playing squad, ahead of their big weekend.

Whilst the players have a crunch clash against Tranmere Rovers to contend with on Saturday, Lee and Eddie are putting in their final preparations for the London Marathon on Sunday morning.

They'll be running the 26 mile course in aid of local charity St Helena Hospice and the players clubbed together to raise £350 towards the boys' £2,000 target for the big race.

Eddie told us: "We have been training for just over two months now and, although it would have been nice to get a few extra miles under our belts, we are going to have to see how far our preparation will get us!

"Night after night of running around the Weston Homes Community Stadium has taken its toll and injuries did become a problem especially during the colder nights!

"But we have kept spirits high and remained positive and myself and Lee are counting the hours down till we set off at around 9:45am Sunday morning."
