The U's squad has been boosted by the return to training this week of goalkeeper Ben Williams and wide man Ben Coker.

Player of the Year Williams has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury in the Essex Senior Cup Final against Hornchurch, whilst former Bury youngster Coker also injured his ankle in pre-season.

Speaking on Thursday, boss John Ward said: "Ben Williams is back in full training.

"The scan only revealed bone bruising, which we were obviously pleased with.

"He has worked with George Bankole and Tony Flynn this week, which is great because both of them have been able to keep a close eye on what he is doing.

"He will travel to Walsall and we will consider him for the bench this weekend. He will then play on Wednesday in the reserves against Stevenage."

Coker, who signed for the U's after impressing on trial, is also expected to play next Wednesday against Borough in the latest Pontins Combination game.

And he is also likely to travel to the Midlands this weekend as the U's take on the solid Saddlers.

John added: "He played a full ninety on Tuesday in an in-house practice game and he'll go with us on Saturday for all of the hard work that he's put in over the past few weeks.

"He'll also play at Stevenage and that's great news as he's a good lad and deserves to get back into action.

"He's ahead of schedule and he has worked so hard with Tony Flynn.

"We've got Richard Hall in now and he is available for this type of situation, to help players get fit and back into playing."

We'll have more squad news on Friday ahead of the trip to the Midlands.
