NEIL DANNS: Gets involved with a coaching session

A rainy start to the week did not deter over 160 children attending the Colchester United Community Sports Trust Soccer Camp as they brushed up on their soccer skills in a week of great football fun.

As well as taking part in a whole range of different skills sessions, the budding young footballers enjoyed penalty shootouts, a Champions league contest and the chance to meet and play football with players from Colchester United.

A surprise was also in store for 16 lucky youngsters as they were treated to a visit to the Bank to get up close with the Barclays Premiership Trophy and meet U's mascot Eddie the Eagle before they returned to the soccer camp with a fantastic goody bag each.

The week was finished off as always with a big presentation and with the sun shining every child was presented with their trophy of attendance, with shields and medals given out for the winners of the soccer challenges, Champions League and the coaches Players of the Week.

A great time was had by all and the children went home tired but happy with their free Adidas football and "Soccer Camp Super Star" t-shirt.
