Aidy Pleased With Weekend Win

Posted on: Mon 07 Dec 2009

U's boss Aidy Boothroyd was left happy after seeing his side win the eighth game out of ten at home this season.

A Kevin Lisbie goal was enough to see the U's through to victory, sustaining their fourth place in the League One table.

And Aidy said that he was pleased in the manner in which his side had won the game.

He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "If you look at where we are in terms of performances and results, compared to last year, we are light years ahead - but some people always want more.

"It surprises me sometimes that people always think the grass is greener on the other side.

"I understand that the fans want to see sexy football - and so do I - but I have always found it right to win first, get the efficiency right, then get the style right afterwards.

"The pleasing thing for me is that today we did both.

"I think a lot of people actually make a judgement about things, they can have a perception about someone or something, without good reason.

"Yes, we have got some powerful players, but what doesn't always get recognised is that we've got some ball players who can open teams up.

"The full-backs were marauding forward and we were creating chances all over the pitch today.

"We played football today and did things at the right times. I thought we played some terrific stuff in their half and it was a comprehensive victory.

"I've talked about those games when everything comes together and today was one of those. We put them on the back foot straight away and dominated the game."
