The postponement stopped Aidy's men hopes to continue their good form in the lead up to the game.

However, the terrible conditions may have been a blessing in disguise for the U's ever-present skipper, Magnus Okuonghae.

Recovering from a shoulder injury, Okuonghae was set to sit out the Bees fixture.

Magnus told the Gazette: "the Brentford game would probably have come a little too soon for me. But I'm planning to be available again for the Bristol Rovers game on Saturday.

"I was sitting in the physio's room feeling very angry after picking up the injury. It was disappointing to have the game called off."

He finished by saying: "Bristol Rovers will be a tough game. They've been up there this season and we know it'll be a hard game but we'll go there positive."
