Boss Pleased With Progress

Posted on: Fri 13 Aug 2010

U's boss John Ward has been pleased with his side's first two performances this season.

A 2-2 draw at Exeter City was followed by a 3-0 win against Hereford and John has been happy with what he has seen so far.

"I don't want to be a nice team that doesn't win," John told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"I want us to threaten more, which is what we did at Hereford.

"Defensively we kept a clean-sheet, against very big, strong opponents. Our centre-halves dealt with that very well, because it was a very physical contest for them to deal with.

"After conceding the late goal at Exeter on Saturday, we stood up to that well. It's nice to have a clean-sheet, and it's nice to get that first win.

"To have three of our first four games away from home is not ideal. But we can now go into the Sheffield Wednesday game on Saturday with a lot of confidence."
